LYNN HOLLYFIELD, an award-winning singer-songwriter, is known as a heartfelt observer of the world and a powerful singer and guitarist. “Great voice, great songs. In The Balance-it’s a beauty!” (John McLaughlin, TheDigitalFolkLife.org). Her most recent release, In The Balance, is a compelling collection of 12 original songs, “by one of DC’s most influential and gifted singer-songwriters.” (Marco Delmar/Recording Arts). “A wonderful balance of songs that range from inspirational to playful. Lynn reached for the moon and she absolutely caught it!” (Jane Woods-Fanrealm) Hollyfield began writing songs in her teens and draws from influences that include jazz greats like Ella Fitzgerald to more contemporary artists of John Hiatt, Shawn Colvin and CSNY. Hollyfield’s voice, described as “rich, warm, inviting,” is supported by her crisp, acoustic guitar style. “Your songs, voice and guitar arrangements, fit together as a beautiful whole.” (Bob Gramann, Fredericksburg Songwriter’s Showcase). Hollyfield has received multiple awards for her songwriting from the Mid-Atlantic Songwriting Contest, The Indie International Songwriting Contest and most recently as a semi-finalist in the Bernard Ebb Songwriting Competition. For performance and her recordings, she has received multiple WAMMIE Nominations from the Washington Area Music Association. Hollyfield supports other songwriters and artists as a host of a popular, monthly Songwriter’s Association of Washington open mic, at the New Deal Café, Greenbelt, Maryland. She also produces concerts at the Homegrown Coffeehouse, National Colonial Farm, Accokeek, Maryland, now in it’s 16th year.
STEVE WOLF bass, currently performs with Bluesmen, Linwood Taylor and Memphis Gold and has toured internationally with many of the regions finest bands, The Nighthawks and has backed an array of national artists including: Chuck Berry, The Coasters, Bo Diddley, Doctor John, The Marvelettes, Tom Principato, Danny Gatton and Springsteen sax man Clarence Clemons. He remains an in-demand sideman.
DAVE ABE has been playing Irish traditional music since the late 1970’s. He is known for his Donegal style of fiddle playing and his extensive knowledge of tunes from that region and has performed at numerous festivals and venues including the Birchmere, the National Cathedral, and the White House. He also enjoys the dynamic of working with singers and has been fortunate to play with Washington, DC icon Grace Griffith for many years and, more recently, with Lynn Hollyfield.
JIMMY BRINK is a Baltimore based percussionist and drummer who has been playing for 25 years. He spent 5 years in the United States Marine Corps Band and now plays with several local musical groups including The Chesapeake Pub Crawl, The Classroom Dragons and The Racket. Jimmy is known for his impromptu, innovative drum solos. He is a dynamic percussionist who lays down succinct rhythm and grooves. Jimmy can be heard keeping time on a myriad of percussion instruments and has a true gift for adding subtle nuances to lyrical themes.
