Solo debut at Baldwin’s Station!

Kipyn Martin is an emerging Americana singer/songwriter whose roots sink into the banks of the Shenandoah River. According to folk legend John Gorka, Kipyn is “a beauty of a singer.” She currently plays festivals, concert halls, coffeehouses, and house concerts from New England to Texas.

April 2016 saw Kipyn’s first solo performances in the southwest, including a concert at Uncle Calvin’s Coffeehouse renowned concert series in Dallas. By year’s end 2016, Kipyn will have toured from Boston to Hollywood (Florida) as one-half of the duo show, Joan & Joni: A Tribute to the Music of Joan Baez & Joni Mitchell. A collaboration with “recovering opera singer” Allison Shapira, Joan & Joni brings audiences on a journey from the heyday of the 1960’s to here and now, wherein Kipyn and Allison demonstrate the effect Joan and Joni have had on their own development as modern musicians.

In March 2015 Kipyn was honored by the Washington Area Music Association with their WAMMIE Award for New Artist of the Year. She also received two WAMMIE nominations this year (Contemporary Folk Vocalist, WAMA/SAW Songwriter of the Year). Other accolades include winning Gold, Silver, and 3rd Place Overall in the 2014 Mid-Atlantic Song Contest for “Dance Across the Sky”. Songs from Kipyn’s debut album, Undercover Muse (2013), have also earned attention on national and international levels. “I Believe in You” scored a semi-finalist rating in the 2013 UK Song Contest, while “Nightbird” took home a Gold Award, as well as the Director’s Choice Award, in the 2013 Mid-Atlantic Song Contest.

Since releasing Undercover Muse Kipyn has had the privilege of opening for John Gorka, Peter Yarrow, Ellis Paul, John Flynn, The Stray Birds, Ellis, Humming House, and The Kennedys. Kipyn also holds a Master of Music Degree in Composition from Shenandoah Conservatory (Winchester, VA), as well as a fervent passion for poetry and song. This aesthetic combination propels her as she tours with her much-anticipated EP, Dance Across the Sky.

David Glaser will accompany Kipyn Martin.
